My Story

I have been treating back, neck and related joint and muscular problems for over 33 years.

After completing my training at the McTimoney Chiropractic School in 1986, I built up a busy practice in Wilmslow, Cheshire, and continued my training in the treatment of animals.

After qualifying, I moved to Hong Kong to work with the racehorses and expatriates at a clinic on Hong Kong Island.

On my return to the UK, my own health problems led me to discover The Bowen Technique and I completed my training for both people and equines in 1998.

In 1999 I relocated to the South Cotswolds, where I practice today in busy practices in Nailsworth and Stroud.

Why Use My Treatment?

Unlike traditional physiotherapy treating specific areas of the body, classical McTimoney Manipulation and Bowen Therapy are gentle effective treatments for the whole body. They are used for the relief of neck, back and joint pain in men, women, pre and post natal, and children of all ages. The whole body is assessed and treated allowing realignment of the spine and joints and a release of muscle spasm thereby reducing painful symptoms even in long term and chronic problems.

These therapies help to reduce pain and improve the range of movement throughout the body and will address the root cause of the problem.   They work preventatively on underlying problems at the same time and once resolved regular follow up treatments will help to maintain a good quality of life.

Conditions range from:

  • Stiffness in joints and reduced mobility
  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Headaches (Tension and Migraine)
  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Whiplash injury
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tennis and golfers elbow
  • RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury)
  • Lumbar pain
  • Low back pain
  • Painful periods
  • Sciatica
  • Knee pain
  • Ankle and foot pain
  • Sports injuries

Sports people can use Bowen as a preventative treatment before competing which helps reduce injury as well as preparing them to perform at their maximum potential and regular treatment every 4-6 weeks is recommended if preparing for regular competition.

Bowen Therapy is also a relaxing alternative to a gentle massage and can be used to help with stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, asthma, hay fever, acute and chronic fatigue and depression.

I also offer FREE 15 minute spinal assessment to discuss if treatment is suitable for your symptoms.
